is a recently opened extension of Tulia, an Osteria-themed restaurant in Naples, FL. Bar Tulia is a separate,

though complementary space to the restaurant themed as a Gastropub, or a bar serving quality food and beverage. It is unique in Naples as they serve food past midnight most nights.  This is a real plus for those hungry after a show or event, or even getting off work late.

Although they had been open for about 2 weeks, I was invited to their official opening recently to sample and talk about some of their food.

I arrived there a bit early to find the restaurant prepping food,

 preparing Affichage

and drinks

like this “off the menu” Savoy Swizzle.

This cocktail has two different rums, Absinthe, Peychaud’s Bitters, Demerara sugar and mint. It looked almost too beautiful to drink.

Here are their beverages.

Everyone seemed to be enjoying their drink orders and the Conviviality.

We were then served random items off the menu.

Shishito peppers were brought to the table, topped with flecks of Foie Gras.

HogfishCeviche was next served with fried pizza dough,

followed by the rabbit wings with Gorgonzola dip,

and Cauliflower salad with Currants, Marcona almonds, mustard Vinaigrette, scallions and grated Pecorino cheese.

So far so good.

Head Chef/owner Vincenzo Betulia was introduced

to the crowd

and talked about how his osteria came to be and his vision for Bar Tulia Gastropub.

His enthusiasm and passion for his craft and business made a really good impression on the audience.

Making sure no one left hungry, we were served samples of Rigatoni with a Bolognese sauce, parsley and Parmesan cheese. Really, really good.

A couple of pizzas followed the pasta. The first was a pizza with Ricotta and Mozzarella cheeses, Pancetta and Brussels Sprout leaves

followed by a Spilinga pizza with Black LeafKale, N’Duja salami, tomatoes, mozzarella and a bit of olive oil.

Both pizzas were very good. As the tasting event was ending and the crowd inside was thinning out I noticed there was not a shortage of diners outside, a very good sign.

It’s nice that there is now a late night dining option in Naples serving quality food, I hope this trend continues.

That’s that for another post on Forks.
